It is past three o'clock ET, so that means trade deadline is over. Except for the trade calls that don't get processed. Those can still go through. The Flames had one of those, trading David Jones to the Minnesota Wild for Niklas Backstrom and a sixth round pick.
This might be considered a bit of an unusual. Backstrom was once one of the Wild's best netminders, but his play had depreciated considerably as would be expected of a 38 year old goalie. He has yet to play this year and it's unlikely he returns.
