The top prospect of the Calgary Flames is heading back to school. 2021 first-rounder Matt Coronato has reportedly informed the Flames that he’s returning to Harvard University for his sophomore season, per a report from Sportsnet.
Selected 13th overall in last year’s NHL Draft, Coronato was a goal-scoring stalwart for the USHL’s powerhouse Chicago Steel. He transitioned to the NCAA this season, playing with Harvard as a freshman. He had a bit of a slow start to the season as he learned the college game and had his season disrupted by a trip to Team USA’s World Junior selection camp and then the subsequent disrupted tournament.
