In the aftermath of last night’s 4-1 loss to the Toronto Maple Leafs, the Calgary Flames have made a roster move. Last night, the Flames had zero extra healthy forwards with Kris Versteeg and Jaromir Jagr nursing injuries. The club has placed Kris Versteeg on the injured reserve and recalled forward Garnet Hathaway from the Stockton Heat of the American Hockey League.
Hathaway, who turned 26 last week, is arguably no longer an NHL “prospect” given his age but he’s still a useful depth player. He’s an energy-filled, right-shot winger who’s found his scoring touch in Stockton; he has 19 points in 18 games, second on his team in scoring (behind Andrew Mangiapane) and tied for 11th in the AHL.
