Well it wasn’t the John any of us expected to sign an 8-year, $84 million dollar contract, but the exact deal reportedly turned down by Gaudreau was signed by Jonathan Huberdeau on Thursday night.
Huberdeau matched Gaudreau with 115 points this past season, as the two 2011 draft picks tied for second in the NHL. The Quebec native has 613 points in 671 career games, and won the Calder trophy during the shortened 2012-13 NHL season. He set an NHL record for assists by a left wing in 2021-22 with 85. He has 21 points in 26 career playoff games, including 5 points in 10 games this past spring.
