As the rest of the Calgary Flames departed the ice on Thursday morning, Sam Bennett lingered.
And skated.
Then, skated some more.
The added workload at the end of the short pre-game practice indicates that, yes, the 20-year-old pivot is indeed a healthy scratch as the Flames square off with Nashville Predators.
“Sam Bennett is out,” confirmed Flames head coach Glen Gulutzan. “I just felt he hasn’t been going the way he’s wanted to go. The last couple games, I thought in Edmonton he worked real hard. The last game, I thought he wasn’t as good as he needed to be.
