If you caught the last few minutes of Tuesday’s Calgary Flames practice and didn’t know any better, you could have sworn you were at a minor hockey skate.
That’s because Glen Gulutzan and his coaching counterparts pushed the goalies' nets to each blue-line and formed a smaller ice surface for a mini three-on-three game, proving that – just like in tyke, atom, and peewee practices – you can have fun and learn at the same time.
“It’s something that’s overlooked at every level, small area games,” Gulutzan said with a chuckle. “Young guys and old guys, you’ve got kids playing full-ice games and is that the game they’re going to be playing?
