Flames Mikael Backlund gets his first goal of the playoffs and it couldn't have come at a better time

Many like to point out numbers that are unsustainable when negative regression is expected.

Depending on who you listen to, that’s the Calgary Flames season in a nutshell.

Mikael Backlund was on the other end of the spectrum.

His first 27 shots of the post-season — a number that has the Swedish centre sitting comfortably among the top-15 busiest playoff shooters — hadn’t found the back of the net.

His 28th did.

And it ended up being the overtime winner that almost blew the lid off the Saddledome on Tuesday night in a dramatic 4-3 win over the Anaheim Ducks.
