Flames GM kept busy while away at World Championship

Calgary Flames GM Brad Treliving returned from the world hockey championship with a gold medal in his luggage.

He might need to have the shiny souvenir melted down to cover the long-distance charges on his cell-phone bill.

“Flames business didn’t stop while I was away,” said Treliving, one of the architects of Canada’s golden bunch at the worlds in Russia. “There’s been a lot of phone work. I’ve lost my voice, and it wasn’t necessarily from cheering our team on. I’ve had this thing glued to my ear for the past couple of weeks.”

Treliving’s tales from Russia certainly won’t do anything to change his reputation as one of the hardest-working men in the hockey business.
