Bob Hartley has been fired as the head coach of the Calgary Flames. The organization had said that it would look at Hartley's status sometime this week as they evaluated their options. They ultimately decided that this was the best one.

Hartley had a limited run of success last season which saw the Flames make the playoffs. Other than that, they had been picking in the bottom five of the draft during his tenure, a mark that most teams would not want to see.
