On Wednesday morning in downtown Calgary, the organizers of the Mac’s Tournament unveiled the 35 teams – 25 men’s squads, 10 women’s – who will be duking it out in late-December in the city’s biggest annual AAA Midget hockey competition.
In addition to a strong local contingent, the tournament will also be welcoming seven teams from outside of Canada’s borders, guaranteeing that the Calgary AAA Midget teams will be facing off against the stiffest competition.
“We’re excited, this is probably the greatest number of international teams we’ve had, I don’t know if ever, but going back 10 or 15 years, for sure,” said Mike O’Neil, the chairman of the Mac’s Tournament.
