A former NHL player is among four Russian immigrants arrested in Florida this week after being charged with defrauding Medicaid, according to multiple reports.
Ex-Toronto Maple Leafs forward Sergei Berezin, 43, and his wife Lyudmila Ustakova were arrested Tuesday morning and are being held in a Palm Beach County jail.
Berezin and Ustakova, who live in Boca Raton, Fla., are facing two charges of defrauding Medicaid of an amount between $10,000 and $50,000, according to a police report.
The pair are accused of paying a Boca Raton-based company to acquire Medicaid and food stamp benefits, which they were unqualified and ineligible for.
