In less than a week, a who’s-who of Edmonton Oilers will parade out of Rexall Place to celebrate the last game in the 42-year-old building.
On Friday night, a far more unofficial goodbye will be held at a Calgary rink one-third the size and 24 years older when the Calgary Hitmen host the Red Deer Rebels in a playoff game moved to the Stampede’s Corral because the Junos award show occupies the Saddledome.
And while there may not be many celebrities on hand to say goodbye to the 6,400-seat arena, world-renowned wrestler Bret Hart and famed Flames trainer Bearcat Murray wouldn’t miss it.
