Edmonton Oilers lose 6-4 in back and forth game with the Tampa Bay Lightning

TAMPA, Fla. — Goaltender Anders Nilsson took the blame and faced the music after his mistake cost the Edmonton Oilers the game against the Tampa Bay Lightning on Tuesday.

Nilsson was caught out of his net after a rolling puck took a bounce away from him, leading to Brian Boyle’s short-handed game winner in the Lightning’s 6-4 victory.

Boyle beat Nilsson to the puck and slipped it into the empty net, ruining the Oilers’ valiant third-period comeback.

“I misread the puck, it took a little funny bounce,” said an upset Nilsson. “I thought the puck was coming at me and I thought they were going to have a chance for a breakaway, that’s why I went out to play it.
