There’s far more to it than just the name.
Perhaps on first blush, the Edge School for Athletes in Springbank could be conveniently thought of as a haven for academically-challenged jocks roaming the halls like wolves in varsity jackets.
But calling it the Edge School for Student-Athletes would be just as apropos.
Notice the student in student-athlete comes first.
“Academics always come first,” Edge Elite 15s forward Dylan Schuett said. “If our grades aren’t where they need to be, we don’t play or practise until they are where they need to be.”
Edge CEO Cam Hodgson says the high-school institution’s main focus is the personal development of the student as a whole and not just the affinity to play a particular sport.
