Dorion takes over from Murray as Sens GM

There could be changing of the guard in Ottawa, the Ottawa Sun has learned.

The Senators have called an 11 a.m. news conference Sunday where it’s believed they will announce GM Bryan Murray, who has been on the job since the club went to the Stanley Cup in 2007, has decided to move into a role as a senior advisor while assistant Pierre Dorion will become the seventh GM in club history.

Dorion, an Ottawa native, is in his ninth season with the Senators and has spent 20 years working in the NHL.

He was the club’s director of player personnel before being elevated to the position of assistant GM along with Randy Lee in 2014.
