The Calgary Flames' to-do list is apparently done.
Restricted free-agent Micheal Ferland is reportedly closing in on a new contract with the club, which would be a two-year deal worth US$825,000 per season, as reported by Hockey Night in Canada's Elliotte Friedman.
It's also apparently a one-way contract, which would pay Ferland the same salary whether he's in the NHL or the minors. That said, it's doubtful he'd be sent down from the big club, seeing as Ferland would need to clear waivers to be reassigned and almost certainly be claimed by another team.
Just this week, as time was winding down before training camp, Ferland, after skating with fellow Flames and prospects at the WinSport Canada facility at Canada Olympic Park, said: “I'm not worried it at all.
