The University of Calgary Dinos men's hockey team rode a red-hot Steven Stanford to a 3-0 shutout over the University of Alberta Golden Bears on Saturday.
Stopping all 45 shots he faced at Clare Drake Arena, the Dinos goalie ended a three-game losing streak that included a 2-1 Bears win at Father David Bauer Arena one night earlier.
Cain Franson, Coda Gordon and Elgin Pearce came up with all the offence Calgary would need, and more, handing the Bears their second loss of the 2017 calendar to fall to 14-7-1 on the season.
Adding insult to injury, it was the the first home shutout loss suffered by the Bears in more than 50 years, with their last one coming in a 5-0 result against the University of British Columbia Thunderbirds on Feb.
