The Rebels can’t seem to catch a break.
Actually, that’s all they seem to catch — as in a broken bone here, a broken bone there.
This time it wasn’t a break as much as a slice as the Rebels lost veteran centre Conner Bleackley after he underwent surgery for a wrist injury.
Bleackley was cut by a skate blade in the regular-season finale and is listed as out indefinitely.
He clearly won’t suit up in the opening round set against the Calgary Hitmen, which starts Friday in Red Deer (7 p.m., Sportsnet 960 The Fan), and would seem questionable for the Memorial Cup (May 19-29 at the Centrium).
