Calgary Flames defenceman Dennis Wideman has been suspended indefinitely pending a hearing next week stemming from a crosscheck to NHL linesman Don Henderson that sent the official to the hospital.
The Calgary Sun reported Thursday morning Henderson experienced nausea and a stiff neck following the game and went to the hospital until 5 a.m. Thursday before being driven to his Calgary home.
Henderson had his back to Wideman midway through Wednesday’s game against Nashville when Wideman crosschecked the linesman to the ice with a distinct follow-through motion.
Wideman said the collision was "completely unintentional" and apologized to Henderson during the next TV timeout.
