RED DEER — Those trade deadline deals are looking pretty sweet about now.
When Red Deer Rebels GM/head coach Brent Sutter grabbed Adam Helewka and Jake DeBrusk at the WHL trade deadline, it was with one goal in mind: The Memorial Cup.
Those prized acquisitions came through in a big way on Sunday night.
DeBrusk scored and set up both of Helewka’s markers to lead the host Rebels to a crucial 5-2 victory over the Rouyn-Noranda Huskies at the Memorial Cup tournament at the Centrium.
Evan Polei and Haydn Fleury also scored for the Rebels, who evened their record at 1-1 and guaranteed themselves a playoff game.
