The news of the day had been about two things.
Dennis Wideman’s suspension reduction and whether or not the Calgary Flames defenceman would play or sit out for his 20th straight game.
But, there he was — No. 6 — on the ice and suiting up for his first National Hockey League game since Jan. 27.
Only the Arizona Coyotes didn’t exactly roll out the red carpet.
Instead, the visitors were powered by three unanswered goals and thumped the Flames 4-1.
"Too many really soft plays cost us the game,” said Flames captain Mark Giordano, the lone team representative taking the heat for the team’s 35th loss of the year.
