UNIONDALE, N.Y. - The car in the Nassau Coliseum parking lot was painted red-white-and-blue – Washington Capitals colours.
At least it used to be before the Islanders fans got a hold of it.
It was more than two hours before game time and tailgating Islander supporters were having a blast crushing the jalopy. For just five bucks, you could grab a sledgehammer and take a mighty swing at the vehicle. Hey, for $10, you bought the privilege of three hacks, a small price to pay for the sweet sound of shattering glass and crumpled metal.
Of course, if you thought there was a lot of damage being done outside the antiquated Coliseum, it was nothing compared to what was going on inside.
