Canadian kids react to Russian meldonium scandal

It's not often 17-year-old Canadian hockey players are asked to comment on another country's doping scandal.

But it's not often an entire team is yanked from a world championship tournament barely a week before it begins.

That's what happened to the Russian team for next week's World Under-18 Championship in Grand Forks.

News of the scandal, revolving around a newly banned drug called meldonium, broke as Team Canada was kicking off its pre-tournament camp here in Winnipeg, a camp that includes pre-season games against the Czech Republic (Sunday, 7 p.m.) and Sweden (Tuesday, 7 p.m.) at the Iceplex.
