Chalk another one up for the Americans.
The three-time defending women’s world hockey champions defeated Canada 2-0 in their first round-robin game of the tournament on Friday.
Though Canada has won gold in each of the last four Olympics, the Americans have owned the world championship, winning six of the last seven times the tournament was held. At last year’s tournament, the U.S. defeated Canada 3-1 in the round robin and then won gold with a 1-0 overtime win in the final.
The early win might not mean much. Of the four times that Canada and U.
