Calgary kid Reid Duke first skater to sign with NHL's Vegas Golden Knights

For now, in fact, Reid Duke is alone on the depth chart.

The Calgary-raised forward put his autograph Monday on a historic contract, becoming the first player to sign with the Vegas Golden Knights.

That’s right, the 21-year-old – currently filling the net in his overage season with the Western Hockey League’s Brandon Wheat Kings – is the first ace up the sleeve of the NHL’s 31st franchise, a squad that will stock up in June’s expansion draft and join the Pacific Division next season.
