There was a lot of emotion on the Inferno bench as the CWHL Calgary Inferno won the Clarkson Cup.
The first period set a good pace to a fast period. The Inferno came on strong and Rebecca Johnston opened the scoring not even 3 minutes into the game. Hayley Wickenheiser proves again and again that she can take a beating and keep on ticking as a collision on neutral ice saw bodies flying everywhere. During an Inferno penalty, Les Canadiennes evened the score. Luckily no more goals were scored during another Inferno penalty. Instead, the Calgary team answered back with a powerplay goal of their own and the score was 2-1 in favour of the Inferno to end the first 20 minutes.
