A good powerplay can cover up a few miscues.
One that’s red-hot can mask a whole bunch of shortcomings.
The Calgary Hitmen powerplay rode to the rescue Sunday afternoon as the struggling locals scored all five goals on the man-advantage in a 5-1 win over the visiting Regina Pats at the Saddledome.
Sophomore defenceman Jake Bean scored a pair of goals and added an assist as the Hitmen wiped the nasty taste from their mouths after being trounced by a combined score of 16-2 in the two previous games.
“We had pretty good net-front presence tonight,” Bean said after picking the top corner through a screen.
