If that’s the WHL’s barometer, the Calgary Hitmen have some work to do.
The Victoria Royals, by most accounts the team to beat after a 15-1-1 record over the past five weeks, weren’t overly flashy.
Just ruthlessly efficient and airtight defensively.
And that was more than enough to hand the Hitmen a 6-2 loss at the Dome on Friday night.
Hitmen defenceman Micheal Zipp
“They play a good team game,” Zipp said. “And they have four lines that can play hockey.
“We got outworked tonight and it’s as simple as that.”
Ryan Gagnon and Tyler Soy scored two goals apiece for the Royals (41-16-6).
