The Calgary Hitmen refused to learn from history.
So now they are history.
After watching the Brandon Wheat Kings fill the net with regularity in the second period of Game 4, it was a whole lot more of the same in Game 5.
The Wheaties lit the lamp five times in a span of 6:48 to blow the game open in a convincing series-clinching 8-2 win over the Hitmen in the Eastern Conference final.
While the Hitmen season comes to an end, the Wheaties move on to play for the WHL Championship for the first time since 2005 against either the Kelowna Rockets or Portland Winterhawks.
