The Calgary Flames avoided arbitration with Rinat Valiev today by signing the defenceman to a one year deal this afternoon.
Valiev spent last season in Stockton with the Heat after making his way to the Flames organization by way of the Montreal Canadiens, where he last saw NHL action.
In 55 games in Stockton last year Valiev scored four goals and had 17 assists.
Rinat Valiev was drafted by the Toronto Maple Leafs back in 2014 with the 68th pick in the 3rd round of the NHL Draft.
