It looks more and more like Sam Bennett is going to get a chance to extend his consecutive NHL games streak.
He could double it, actually, from one to two.
That was certainly the sense most people got watching Calgary Flames practice Monday as the 18-year-old forward took Mason Raymond’s position on the second line alongside Joe Colborne and Mikael Backlund.
He also spent time during the morning skate working on a powerplay unit and even filled in for the absent (just resting) Sean Monahan between Jiri Hudler and Johnny Gaudreau at one point.
Perhaps the only way Flames fans could be even more excited than they are these days is by adding the club’s highest draft pick of all time.
