Eighteen games without a goal.
Seventeen minutes to complete a hat-trick.
To say that Sam Bennett’s luck has suddenly changed would be an understatement.
The rookie winger finally snapped out of a lengthy scoring funk in his previous outing and didn’t wait long to pile up a few more, tickling the twine three times in Wednesday’s opening stanza and later adding a fourth snipe to power the Calgary Flames to a 6-0 shellacking of the Florida Panthers at the Saddledome.
Johnny Gaudreau and Mason Raymond also scored and surprise starter Jonas Hiller pitched a 15-save shutout as the Flames (20-20-2) squashed the Panthers’ 13-game points streak in Wednesday’s rout.
