Calgary Flames prospects fall to Vancouver Canucks kids to round out Young Stars Classic

PENTICTON, B.C. – Three-on-three overtime is supposed to generate more goals and more excitement.

The Calgary Flames prospects experienced both, but were on the wrong side in their first such experience.

Jake Virtanen, the Calgary Hitmen standout drafted in the first round in 2014, was the hero for the Vancouver Canucks in their 3-2 comeback overtime win over the Flames Monday to conclude the Young Stars Classic tournament in Penticton, B.C.

Virtanen, rather quiet to that point, sped away for a breakaway less than two minutes into the extra frame and made no mistake for the winner.
