Mason McDonald just wanted a shot.
Tuesday’s news was even better — he’s already saved a spot.
McDonald was one of only two netminders invited to Hockey Canada’s world junior selection camp next week in Toronto, meaning the Calgary Flames prospect can plan on spending the holiday season in Helsinki, Finland.
“It’s kind of crazy to think I’m going to be playing in the world juniors this year instead of watching it at home,” McDonald said. “It’s really surreal. It hasn’t quite sunk in yet. It’s something I’ve always wanted to be a part of, and I’m really excited to get the opportunity.
