ANAHEIM — Just when you thought the dry scrape was completely gone from the NHL’s lexicon.
The Calgary Flames had a 20-minute delay to their practice Saturday because they felt there was too much water left on the surface at the Anaheim Ice facility and demanded the Zamboni go over it a second time.
“California’s beautiful. You get to get a swimming lesson first, and then you get to practice,” Flames head coach Bob Hartley quipped. “That’s why you come to California.
“But there was no sharks.”
Later, after being asked about his team’s resiliency when so many believe they’ve been left for dead, Hartley remarked: “They tried to drown us today.
