The Calgary Flames are holding a press conference this morning and it is believed they are naming a new head coach.
That man, according to reports, is expected to be Glen Gulutzan. The 44-year-old Manitoba native would be named the 16th head coach in franchise history.
Gulutzan would be in charge of improving upon the Flames’ disappointing 2015-16 campaign, which followed their upstart 2014-15 season and second-round playoff appearance. If he's announced, he replaces Bob Hartley, the 2015 Jack Adams Award winner, who was fired on May 3.
The hiring process, led by Flames general manager Brad Treliving, has been on-going for over six weeks as the team prepares to head into next weekend’s National Hockey League draft in Buffalo.
