Need a lesson in penalty killing?
Look no further than the Calgary Flames duo of Mikael Backlund and Michael Frolik.
The forwards are, at the moment, challenging Johnny Gaudreau and Sean Monahan for headlines, specifically after Monday night’s 7-4 victory over the St. Louis Blues.
Frolik had been the owner of a hat-trick which included two short-handed markers, both of which were scored on perfectly executed — and rare — opportunities to rush while the Flames killed off penalties.
“They were two identical plays — basically the same play that happened inside (the Blues’) blueline,” said Flames head coach Bob Hartley on Tuesday.
