Brian Elliott wanted to be a go-to goalie.
And as you’d probably heard, the Calgary Flames really, really — like, REALLY, REALLY — needed a starting netminder.
Perfect fit, right?
The Flames crossed the top item off their to-do-list on the draft floor in Buffalo, acquiring Elliott from the St. Louis Blues — he was sharing the crease in the Show Me State with Jake Allen — in exchange for the 35th-overall holler in Saturday’s second round and a conditional third-round selection in 2018.
“He only played 42 games this year, but he had the best save percentage in the league for a guy that played that many games,” said Flames goaltending coach Jordan Sigalet.
