With the St. Louis Blues’ net empty in the final minute of a 6-4 game Monday at the Dome, Monahan took a pass from Johnny Gaudreau two strides from centre ice as they left the Calgary Flames’ zone uncontested.

With two goals on the night and a chance to notch his first NHL hat-trick, he looked up ice with only one thought in mind — find Michael Frolik.
