The only thing that comes remotely close to matching how magical the Calgary Flames season has been is the citywide celebration surrounding it.
While Saturday's series-clinching game for the ages certainly took the Red Mile celebrations closer to 2004 heights, Flames players recognized earlier in the series how much this means to the community.
Dennis Wideman broke into a grin when asked if he could relate the fervor of the city to anything he'd ever seen or experienced in his life.
"There are 5,000 people where I grew up," beamed the 32-year-old product of tiny Elmira, Ont.
