David Jones was getting ready to go to a golf tournament in the summer of 2013 when he was traded from the Colorado Avalanche to the Calgary Flames.
“That’s when I was called and I was kind of blindsided by it,” the right winger was saying over the weekend. “This time, it’s a little different.
“It’s mid-season, at the trade-deadline right now. I’ve been through it four years ago and it’s happening again this year.”
After 446 games over nine seasons in the NHL, Jones knows the drill.
The 31-year-old is facing an expiring contract at the end of the 2015-16 season and understands his situation/potential value for a franchise.
