This year’s edition of the National Hockey League’s annual awards show will have a bit of a Calgary Flames flavour to the proceedings.
In addition to Jacob Markstrom being a finalist for the Vezina Trophy, the league announced on Thursday that assistant general manager Chris Snow – along with his family – will be one of the presenters at the event.
Snow was diagnosed with Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS) back in June 2019 and given a year to live. Three years later, he continues to contribute to the Flames as assistant GM – he’s the point person on most contract negotiations and helps integrate information from the data department he built into the hockey operations department’s decision-making – and as an enduring symbol of hope and perseverance.
