The Calgary Canucks aren’t surprised.
The rest of the AJHL might be looking and the standings and wondering how a Canucks organization that has struggled in recent years has suddenly catapulted to the top of the South Division standings, but the Canucks themselves expected this.
Well, maybe not this but something close.
“I think we had lofty expectations this year,” said first year GM/head coach James Poole. “Last year’s team had a bit of a turnaround, they only finished in sixth place but they finished fairly strong in the second half.
“With the number of players returning, for myself coming on as a fulltime coach here and with some of the changes the organization has made, we felt we were going to turn the corner as a program.
