Fans of the Brooks Bandits have had enough with twiddling their thumbs over the past few weeks.
Sure, they got to see their beloved Bandits finish up the Alberta Junior Hockey League season with convincing 6-2 and 6-3 wins over the Calgary Canucks and Calgary Mustangs at the Centennial Regional Arena on March 4 and 5.
But the Bandits (49-9-2) clinched top spot in the Viterra AJHL South Division long before that, thus earning them a bye through the first round of the playoffs.
“We’ve got a pretty loyal and boisterous fan base here and I think they’re excited for some meaningful games,” said Bandits coach and general manager Ryan Papaioannou.
