For the past two seasons, Lance Bouma wanted to prove the Calgary Flames right.
Now, he’s shooting to prove them wrong.
Just one day after receiving a contract buyout from the Flames, the gritty winger signed on Canada Day as an unrestricted free agent with the Chicago Blackhawks.
“It’s been a whirlwind,” Bouma said. “Obviously, you go from the lowest of emotions to the highest of emotions. It’s felt like it’s been a week, the past couple of days.”
The highlight is obvious. In the Windy City, Bouma joins a star-studded cast that is headlined by Patrick Kane and Jonathan Toews, cornerstone forwards for a crew that has sipped from the Stanley Cup three times in the past eight years.
