A banged-up Calgary Hitmen squad’s hopes of back-to-back wins came to a screeching halt Tuesday.
St. Louis Blues prospect Adam Musil scored a hat-trick to power the Red Deer Rebels to a 3-0 win over the host team at the Scotiabank Saddledome.
The loss came after the Hitmen 4-2 win over the Kootenay Ice on the road Saturday.
Red Deer outshot Calgary 27-26 and built period leads of 1-0 and 2-0 before Musil completed his three goal effort scoring into an empty net in the final minute.
Rebels rookie goaltender Riley Lamb stopped all 26 shots he faced, to pick up his second career shutout.
