Blues give Ken Hitchcock one-year extension

Ken Hitchcock is getting one final shot at getting the St.Louis Blues to hockey’s playoff promised land.

While the St. Louis Blues announced Tuesday that Hitchcock had received an extension for the 2015-16 season, one-year contracts aren’t actually votes of confidence when it comes to coaches. Anything but.

Then again, neither was the fact that the Blues reportedly interviewed Mike Babcock for the vacant bench boss position before he inked a lucrative eight-year, $50 million US pact with the Maple Leafs.

With Babcock having opted for Toronto, the Blues decided to bring back the 63-year-old Hitchcock for a fifth season.
