Jack Johnson won an off-the-ice battle to keep his current salary away from a creditor, according to a report.
In a ruling filed Aug. 16, an Ohio bankrutcty court judge granted the Columbus Blue Jackets defenceman a judgment that denied RFF Family Partnership any interest in Johnson's future earnings after he filed for bankruptcy protection in October 2014, Bloomberg reported Thursday.
After signing a seven-year, $30.5 million contract in 2011 with the Los Angeles Kings, Johnson dropped his agent, Pat Brisson, and signed over power of attorney to his mother, Tina Johnson. He was eventually traded to the Blue Jackets in February 2012.
