Before mailing Christmas cards, Leafs Nation will have the urge to send a get well message to James Reimer.
Plan B for any Reimer absence is Jonathan Bernier and he keeps earning an F. With four goals against on just 12 Washington shots, the winless (0-8-1) goalie took the steam out of a potential point or two for his team on Saturday. The Capitals broke open a close game for a 4-2 triumph and while Bernier recovered to a degree, the damage was done and the Leafs had lost three straight to remain in the Atlantic basement.
Coach Mike Babcock was not going to satisfy the vox populi after two periods, sending Bernier back in for the third and leaving Marlies call-up Garret Sparks at the end of the bench charting face-offs.
