Matt Bartkowski wasn’t 100 per cent sure and Glen Gulutzan wouldn’t confirm it.
But judging by the defence pairings during a brisk practice on Friday, it certainly looks like the Calgary Flames newcomer will make his debut Saturday night against the Vancouver Canucks.
With the Flames dispatching Brett Kulak back to the American Hockey League’s Stockton Heat, Bartkowski was taking the majority of the reps with blue liner Dennis Wideman who has, lately, been one half of Calgary’s third pairing. As of Friday’s practice before his club boarded a plane to the West Coast, the Flames head coach was coy with his lineup.
